Here’s a full air fryer roast chicken recipe that gives you juicy meat with crispy golden skin:
Ingredients:
1 whole chicken (3–4 lbs / 1.5–2 kg)
2 tbsp olive oil (or melted butter)
1 ½ tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp paprika (for color & flavor)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
½ tsp dried thyme (or rosemary)
1 lemon, halved (optional, for stuffing)
4 garlic cloves, smashed (optional, for stuffing)
Instructions:
Prep the chicken
Remove any giblets.
Pat the chicken dry with paper towels (this helps the skin crisp).
Season
In a small bowl, mix olive oil (or butter) with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and thyme.
Rub the mixture all over the chicken, including under the skin if possible.
If desired, stuff the cavity with lemon halves and garlic.
Preheat air fryer
Set air fryer to 360°F (180°C) for 5 minutes.
Cook the chicken
Place the chicken breast side down in the air fryer basket.
Cook at 360°F (180°C) for 30 minutes.
Flip the chicken breast side up and cook another 25–30 minutes, or until the thickest part of the thigh reaches 165°F (74°C) on a meat thermometer.
Rest before serving
Remove chicken carefully and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.
Tips:
For extra crispy skin, brush lightly with oil halfway through cooking.
If your chicken is larger than 4 lbs, increase cooking time by 5–10 minutes.
Save the drippings to make a quick gravy.
