🎄 Classic Christmas Sugar Cookies
Soft centers, crisp edges—perfect for cutting and decorating.
Ingredients
2¾ cups (345 g) all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
½ tsp salt
¾ cup (170 g) unsalted butter, softened
1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
1 large egg
1½ tsp vanilla extract
Optional: ½ tsp almond extract
Instructions
Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt.
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 min).
Beat in egg and extracts.
Mix in dry ingredients just until combined.
Chill dough 30–60 minutes (easier to roll).
Roll to ¼-inch thick on lightly floured surface. Cut shapes.
Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 8–10 minutes, until edges are just set.
Cool completely before decorating.
Easy Icing (Optional)
1 cup powdered sugar
1–2 tbsp milk
½ tsp vanilla
Mix to a smooth, pipeable consistency. Add food coloring if you like.
Tips
For extra soft cookies, don’t overbake.
Add festive flavor: a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg.
Dough freezes well—wrap tightly up to 3 months.
