An Egg Cream is a classic New York City drink that, despite its name, doesn’t contain either egg or cream! It’s a refreshing, sweet, and fizzy beverage that’s made with just three ingredients: chocolate syrup, milk, and seltzer.
Here’s a traditional Egg Cream recipe:
Ingredients:
2 tablespoons of chocolate syrup (preferably Fox’s U-Bet or any classic chocolate syrup)
1/2 cup of cold whole milk
1/2 cup of seltzer or club soda (cold)
Instructions:
Pour the chocolate syrup into a tall glass.
Add the milk into the glass, but don’t stir yet. The milk will mix with the syrup as you add the seltzer.
Slowly pour in the seltzer or club soda into the glass. The fizz should mix everything together, creating a foamy head.
Stir gently to combine. The foam should rise to the top, and it will look creamy but still be light and frothy.
Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing Egg Cream!
