Here’s a simple, chewy gluten-free & dairy-free chocolate chip cookie recipe that works great for beginners 🍪
Gluten-Free / Dairy-Free Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
½ cup dairy-free butter (like Earth Balance or Miyoko’s), softened
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup white sugar
1 egg (room temperature)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1½ cups gluten-free all-purpose flour (with xanthan gum)
½ tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
¾ cup dairy-free chocolate chips
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a bowl, cream together the dairy-free butter, brown sugar, and white sugar until smooth.
Mix in the egg and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, whisk together gluten-free flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and mix until combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips.
Scoop dough (about 1½ tbsp per cookie) onto the baking sheet, spacing them out.
Bake 10–12 minutes, until edges are set but centers look slightly soft.
Let cookies cool on the pan for 5 minutes, then move to a rack.
Tips
For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
If your gluten-free flour doesn’t include xanthan gum, add ¼ tsp.
Want extra flavor? Add a pinch of cinnamon or sea salt on top.
