Simple Chocolate Mousse Recipe Card
Ingredients
For the Mousse:
- 14 oz dark chocolate (72%), finely chopped
- 8 egg yolks
- 1/2 cup (99g) sugar
- 4 cups (908ml) heavy cream, divided
- 1 Tbsp vanilla extract
- 2 tsp espresso powder (optional)
- 1/2 tsp salt
For the Whipped Cream Topping:
- 1 and 1/2 cups (340ml) heavy cream
- 1/2 cup (57g) confectioners’ sugar
- Optional: Chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Melt chocolate by pouring a hot egg custard over it. Stir until smooth.
- Chill chocolate mixture for 1-2 hours.
- Whip cream to stiff peaks and fold into chilled chocolate mixture.
- Spoon into cups, top with whipped cream, and garnish with chocolate shavings.
Storage Tip: Store mousse in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Add whipped topping just before serving for the freshest taste.
