Magic Cookie Bars (also called “7-layer bars”) are a classic, super-easy dessert—rich, chewy, and perfect when you want something sweet without much effort.
Magic Cookie Bars Recipe
Ingredients
1½ cups graham cracker crumbs
½ cup (1 stick) butter, melted
1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
1 cup chocolate chips
1 cup butterscotch chips (optional but traditional)
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans work best)
Instructions
Preheat oven
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Make the crust
Mix graham cracker crumbs with melted butter. Press firmly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Layer the ingredients
Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly over the crust
Sprinkle chocolate chips
Add butterscotch chips
Sprinkle coconut
Finish with chopped nuts
Bake
Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden.
Cool & cut
Let the bars cool completely before cutting into squares (this helps them set properly).
Tips & Variations
Swap graham crackers with digestive biscuits if that’s easier to find.
Not a fan of coconut? You can leave it out or reduce the amount.
Add white chocolate chips or dried fruit for a twist.
For cleaner cuts, chill the bars before slicing.
